Qigong for Wellness Classes
The Monday afternoon and Wednesday morning classes are a 60-minute introduction to Qigong.
Qigong is one of the branches of Traditional Chinese medicine. It’s a soft, gentle exercise that nurtures, builds, and maintains your vital energy. Keep your body and mind supple, flexible and agile from the inside out. The practices are simple and easy to learn and have subtle and profound results.
Along the way, learn about Traditional Chinese medicine and Daoist philosophy and how these practices maintain health and fitness. This class is for anyone, men and women, young and old. Come along and have fun!
Weekly sessions alternate between Zhan Zhuang or standing still meditation, Ba Duan Jin or the Eight Brocades sequence, Shi Er Duan Jin or the Twelve Brocades sequence, Meihua Quan Kung Fu practices and diverse Qigong exercises. Each session focuses on stimulating acupoints, strengthening the meridian system and balancing Yin-Yang energy. This is a wonderful way to start or end your day.
Traditional Yoga Classes
The Monday, Tuesday and Thursday classes are 90-minutes of holistic yoga and a powerful way to bring the body, breath and mind into balance. They are a complete practice with deep holds, slow flow and gentle recovery. The Asanas (poses) are followed by Pranayama (breathing exercises) and Yoga Nidra (deep active relaxation).

Chair Yoga Classes
The Wednesday morning class is a 45-minute inclusive practice that builds strength, flexibility and mental wellbeing. This chair yoga class includes a range of poses that open and stretch the body, develop your mobility, bring a smile to your face and keep your motor humming. Also included are a range of chair based Taiji and Qigong exercises, as well as breathing exercises and seated relaxation techniques. A lovely way to boost your day.
Mobility Classes
These Tuesday and Wednesday morning 60-minute mobility, stretch and bodyweight sessions are designed to build body awareness, coordination, strength, agility and flexibility.
They are for any body, any age, any fitness level, and are based on having fun and playing around with your body.
Each class contains a mix of natural movement, bodyweight, yoga, qigong, myofascial stretching and martial arts based exercises, and are particularly good for men. If you push your body and are starting to feel it, come along and work on ironing out the kinks in a safe and gentle environment.
Also includes a short session on breathwork and relaxation. Overall a great foundation for the rest of your day!

Open Classes
If you’re unsure of this type of class, please do a search of Mysore style of yoga. This style was developed by Pattabhi Jois and is actually a method of teaching. In the case of Jois, he taught Ashtanga yoga to students in Mysore in the traditional way. As Ashtanga follows a set sequence of poses, each student could come along and practice in the classroom at their own pace, and receive feedback, support and correction from Jois.
My open classes follow the same method of teaching. Once you’ve had a private routine developed specifically for your body, needs and goals, come along and practice your routine at your own pace, in the presence of others, and receive instruction, feedback and support.
This differs to a group class where everyone follows the teacher and fulfils the same routine. An open class has different people following their own unique routines, all under the watchful and supportive eye of the teacher.
This is how yoga was originally taught - in a one-on-one setting. The open class is a one-on-one class just in a group setting.
Open classes are a safe space to come, practise your yoga, qigong and mobility routines.
To create an open class, a minimum of 3 persons is required.
