Max Bircher Benner was a Swiss born physician and nutritionist who developed the now infamous Bircher müsli, which originally consisted of raw food elements. His recipe was but one in a complete raw food programme which he used to heal patients of cancer and other diseases. Back in his day, his treatment was quite revolutionary, but effective. He was also a strong believer in respecting and living together with nature. His patients not only followed a natural diet, but took part in outdoor activity and developed a close bond with nature. No doubt the idealic Swiss lifestyle influenced both Bircher Benner and Alfred Vogel’s way of thinking.
